ABOUT

Hello to all fellow animal lovers out there! We are Kim and Marcus of Willow Creek Whippets, and we love animals too! I (Kim) am an avid nature lover, adore gardening, and just about anything outdoors. Hiking, horseback riding, and collecting Breyer horses I do in my spare time. Hubby loves DIY projects, and I keep him plenty busy with lots of "honey-do's!" We are also grandparents to 2 beautiful babies, Madalyn and Atlas.
I have worked with animals all my life, and grew up first on a dairy farm, and then later, with horses, pigs, and poultry. We always had a menagerie of critters! I have very fond memories of the farm life, and growing up as a country kid. We had a pet sow we raised from a baby that would even camp out with us in the back yard. We also had pet raccoons, and even an oppossum! In later years, Marcus and I also had the fun experience of taking care of a newborn baby fawn for about 3 weeks. Best experience ever!
I have spent most of my adult life as a veterinary technician, so I am very familiar with all the needs and traumas (and joys!) of owning a pet, and most definitely a multi-pet household!
I have owned and operated a USDA-AKC kennel many (MANY) years ago, and I have also worked with and for other kennels as well, with a wide variety of dog breeds (way before we ever had Whippets). I've even worked a dog auction, which had to be about the saddest thing ever. About the only thing I haven't done is work in a pet store, which I am not fond of either, although I am a frequent customer for those special pet items my gang just have to have!
I have a B.S. degree in Biology/Pre-Vet. I had always dreamed of being a veterinarian (and I may still do so before I'm eighty), but my life has since been guided in a different direction with helping animals in another capacity, which led me to rescue work in addition to raising the Whippets. I haven't done as much with dog rescue in the past few years as we are still getting settled here in Arkansas, but we are always willing and able, and help when we can, and we will ALWAYS make room for sighthounds!
We share our home with multiple dogs, including some rescue dogs too, large and small, along with 6 parrots, and 3 indoor kitties and 2 outdoor kitties.
We fell in love with the Whippet breed about 25 years ago and started with just ONE dog! Since then, we have slowly built up our own foundation dogs, and many generations later, we have our own pack that rules the house!
All our dogs are very spoiled housedogs and rule the roost. They are very social and outgoing, and will be the first to greet anyone at the door. NO shy Whippets here! Puppies are raised indoors, as family pets first. You won't find more well socialized or healthy happy go lucky Whippets than a Willow Creek Whippet.
We hope you will enjoy viewing our website and maybe learning a little more about Whippets too.
